KIJADJIWAN, Frank (Lewis) – Obituary – Sault Ste. Married

Sunrise: April 6, 1931

Sunset: March 30, 2022

Frank Kijadjiwan (Lewis), son of Robert Lewis and Mary Meawasige, began his spiritual journey on March 30, 2022 at the age of 90. Frank was born in Serpent River First Nation and the youngest of 5 years. He joins his beloved wife, Lorena and her children. Adele, Mark, Keith and Rick all died before; he leaves behind his daughters, Cheryle (Peter) and Jackie.

Frank was a proud grandfather of 15, great-grandfather of 31 and great-great-grandfather of 10.

Frank’s beloved father, Robert, Zaagijiwese, began his spiritual journey at a relatively young age. Zaagijiwese in English means “one who guards from outside/perimeter”. In the years following Zaagijiwese’s passing, it was common to see Frank driving around our community at different times of the day. We, his family, may see it as an inherited trait, but it was more likely a son impersonating a father he loved dearly.

Visitation will be held at the SRFN Lifestyle Center on Saturday, April 2 at 2 p.m. The funeral will take place on Monday, April 4 at 11 a.m. in the Notre-Dame de la Route church with interment in the SRFN cemetery.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Serpent River Geka Wigwam First Nation (Elder’s Lodge). Electronic transfers can be sent to [email protected] Arrangements by BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME Ltd, Espanola.

Baamaapii gaawaabmin Frank.
