Madison Christmas Parade believes in “The Magic of Christmas” – The Madison Record

MADISON – Following cancellation in 2020 due to COVID-19, Madison’s Christmas Parade will return to full capacity through the city streets this year on December 11 at 5 p.m.

The theme of the 2021 parade is “The Magic of Christmas”.

The organizers asked parade participants to decorate their float, truck or other vehicle to follow the theme. Judges will assess the unit during programming on Plaza Boulevard and while the parade is mobile, said Christina Jimmerson Cox. Cox works as an Administrative Supervisor / Madison Assisted Ride System or MARS Coordinator for the City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department, which coordinates the parade.

The winning parade units will receive their rewards at an upcoming Madison City Council meeting.

The parade units range from children’s groups to churches and retail:

The units will depart from their alignment locations on Plaza Boulevard at 5:00 PM and proceed south on Hughes Road to their destination at the Infinity Complex Entertainment Center, 100 Skate Park Drive.

The rainy date for the parade is December 12 at 2 p.m.

Also on December 11, merchants in downtown Madison will be holding open houses in their stores from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
