The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS is available with two separate powertrain and transmission options. The base EQS 450+ features a single 329 horsepower electric motor that powers the rear wheels only. The engine is also capable of producing 419 pound-feet of torque.

The EQS 580 4Matic offers more powerful dual electric motors that send 516 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. Both trim levels feature a standard 107.8 kWh battery with 350 and 340 miles of range, respectively. Battery charge can reach 80% in just 31 minutes using a DC fast charger. The car’s battery is the first to receive Mercedes-Benz’s new thermal management system which actively cools and heats the battery for an optimal charging experience.

The system design prevents degradation of the battery over time and improves the charging speed. Mercedes-Benz is also committed to maintaining the ecological EQS throughout production. The carbon neutral factory in Hedelfingen will be commissioned with fully renewable energy in 2022. Performance and handling Mercedes-Benz EQS 2022

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS is a large car. Despite his immense size and weight of 5,888 pounds, he is quite agile. Basically, the EQS 450+ hits 60 in 5.5 seconds, while the EQS 4Matic brings that number down to just 4 seconds. Impressive numbers for a car of its size, although Mercedes-Benz has no intention of this car being a sports car.

Supreme comfort is the primary goal of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 2022. Everything in the EQS design enhances passenger comfort and enjoyment. The electric motors have an acoustic foam housing to ensure that no murmurs enter the car interior.

The EQS also has the lowest drag coefficient of any car on the market today, which significantly reduces wind noise. The overall driving experience is surprisingly S-Class, safe and stable. While the driving experience is that of a traditional big car, the suspension is very smooth and consumers will experience body roll when cornering. However, most S-Class consumers are looking for an extremely comfortable automobile. It should be a painless transition for those who wish to switch to an EQS.

The interior of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS is almost from another world. The level of technology and attention to detail inside is something that consumers typically only see in concept cars. Headlining inside is a huge single pane of glass that conceals three digital screens. These screens include a 12.3-inch screen for the driver, a 17.7-inch infotainment system and a third 12.3-inch passenger infotainment system. The systems can browse the Internet, stream various media, and handle all standard automotive functions.

The two screens can also work independently, which means the driver can use the navigation and listen to the radio while the passenger watches a Netflix series using a Bluetooth headset. Physical buttons on the EQS are rare, limited to a few basic audio controls and the hazard warning button. The air conditioning and various driving settings are regulated via the infotainment.

Beyond the highly configurable driver’s screen, the driver also faces an augmented reality screen that projects onto the windshield. The system is essentially an HD color head-up display. The car is capable of level three range, but the U.S. government regulates the system at level two range, which means the system restricts users to interstate highways. However, the EQS can overtake, change lanes, maintain speed, and follow completely hands-free navigation on the freeway. The system monitors the retina of drivers to ensure they are paying relative attention. The same system uses eye tracking to show the cars’ next movement through a long digital arrow in the augmented reality projection. Cargo space in the EQS is decent for a sedan of this size, with 22 cubic feet in the trunk and 63 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
